We set the happiness level, the stress level, the certainty level led by our own behaviour.
Our behaviour stems from the choices we make, the decisions we make about every situation in our life within our businesses.
Emotions are literally energy in motion, neutral by definition, as soon as we label a situation we get a feeling such as anger, sadness, fear, anxiety, worry, joy, excitement, etc.
Let’s take the following situation: congested traffic on our way to work (we are driving)

You are driving your car and you are stuck in traffic.
How do you feel?
Patient? Calm? Joyful? … Why not?
Angry? Anxious because you will probably arrive late to that “important” meeting? Frustrated? Experiencing Road Rage?
While being stuck in traffic and starting to feel contracted emotions (frustrated, angry, anxious) we have a choice.
Yes, we have a choice to transform it to calmness, if listening to opera music calms our nervous system down, then we can play some music in the car.
What about breathing? Taking in fresh oxygen, what about enjoying the view? Are there trees around you? What about smiling at the person sitting in the car next to you?
Having a deep conversation with the person driving with you.
We have a choice. Exactly there, is where our power resides.
Remember: One good day is one good day, but one bad day could translate into months… as it has a ripple effect.

If you work with other people, employees, suppliers, contractors, customers, they will look up to you, looking for certainty, to feel safe and secure as you are the leader, the successful entrepreneur.
If today you woke up feeling awful, terrible, depressed and had a rough morning, stay away from your business, yes, stay away until you have transformed your “bad” unproductive, contracted state.
Do not write an email, or join that zoom call or go to the office if you are in a “bad” mood.
Look deep within yourself and use your tools to transform that state from a “bad” mood to a good mood (uplifting, expanded state)
Our emotions set the tone of our company.
Have a conversation with your coach, meditate, contemplate, imagine, calm the nervous system, calm the mind, so you create a new perspective.
Create quiet space, place some music if needed, go on a nature walk, relax. Allow your mind to process everything that is going on, this is what we call awareness.

One of the core skills indispensable as an entrepreneur is emotional boldness (mental toughness)
Find the equilibrium needed to use your emotions as guides rather than your emotions using you wildly.
Steps to follow when an unwanted emotion arises from a situation:
- Feel the emotion, acknowledge it, label it
- Once the emotion is labelled, we call it feeling
- We labelled it when we gave meaning to the situation
- We labelled the emotion using our thoughts
- To transform this feeling we can then change the meaning of the situation
- By choosing to change the perspective, choosing to label the situation differently
- Therefore changing the emotion to one that you want to respond with
