6 Healing Sounds

Harmonise Your Emotions: Embracing the Power of the 6 Healing Sounds

The Six Healing Sounds is a practice rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and qigong, aimed at promoting health and harmonising the body’s energy. It involves the use of specific sounds along with associated movements to stimulate and balance different organs in the body.

Let’s find out what the Six Healing Sounds are:

  1. SHHHOEEEE (XU): The first sound is associated with the liver and the wood element. It helps release anger, frustration, and stagnant energy from the liver. To perform this sound, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, place your hands on your lower abdomen, and exhale with a gentle “shoooeee” sound, as if you are blowing out a candle.
  1. HEERRRRRRR (HE): The second sound is related to the heart and the fire element. It helps calm the mind, reduce anxiety, and promote joy. To perform this sound, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, cross your hands over your chest with palms facing inward, and exhale with a long “heeerrrr” sound, like a sigh of relief.
  1. WHOOO (HU): The third sound is associated with the spleen and the earth element. It aids in digestion, enhances concentration, and strengthens the immune system. To perform this sound, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, place your hands on your stomach, and exhale with a deep “whooo” sound, as if blowing out a candle from deep within.
  1. TZZZZZ (SI): The fourth sound is related to the lungs and the metal element. It helps release grief, sadness, and stagnant energy from the lungs. To perform this sound, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, place your hands on your chest, and exhale with a gentle “tzzz” sound, as if you are hissing like a snake.
  1. CHWEEEYYY (XI): The fifth sound is associated with the kidneys and the water element. It helps release fear, stress, and promotes vitality. To perform this sound, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, place your hands on your lower back, and exhale with a vibrating “chweeeyy” sound, like the sound of wind blowing through a narrow opening.
  1. SHEEEEE (CHUI): The sixth sound is related to the triple burner, which is not a specific organ but a functional system that regulates the body’s energy distribution. It helps balance the body’s temperature and energy flow. To perform this sound, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, place your hands on your lower abdomen, and exhale with a forceful “sheeeee” sound, as if you are expelling heat.

The Six Healing Sounds can be practiced individually or as a sequence, repeating each sound six times. They are often accompanied by gentle movements and visualisation to enhance the overall healing effect.

It’s important to practice with a relaxed and focused mind, paying attention to the sensations within the body and the specific organs associated with each sound.
